Classroom Routines and Procedures

Arrival & Dismissal:

• There is no busing the first two weeks of school. The school building will be open starting at 7:20 A.M.

  • School officially starts at 7:45 A.M.

  • Students in our class should enter through the front doors of the school and go directly into the gym

  • School ends at 2:07 P.M.

    • Our class will be exiting out the Carimona side doors and will stay by that the corner until they are picked up. (If they have a younger sibling they will go to that teacher’s pick up location. Check with your youngest children where their pick up location is located.)

  • Aftercare students will head to the aftercare room downstairs

P.E.

• We have P.E. Mondays & Thursdays. Please make sure you have gym shoes on those days. (It’s a good idea to wear them every day since we will be outside often).

• Dress for the weather. P.E. will be outside as long as the weather allows.

Lunch & Recess

• Lunch is from 11:10 -11:30 in our classroom

• Recess is from 11:35-11:55. Recess will be outside as long as weather permits.

Snack

• Students will have snack every day some time between 8:30 and 9:30. Each student is asked to bring a small snack from home. Please send something healthy (no candy) and something that can be consumed in 5-7 minutes.

Parent Communication

• Homework, events coming up, and weekly class overview will be located on my website (https://sites.google.com/cotterschools.org/mrs-ratz). Please look through the website and become familiar with it

• Weekly newsletter will go home with students every Friday and will also be uploaded to the website

• Weekly homework will also be uploaded to my website every week

• Parents, if you ever have any questions or concerns the quickest way to get a hold of me is through email

SAB (Student Assignment Book)

• Students will fill out their SAB every day before going home. Any homework they have left to finish will be written in their SAB.

• Parents do not need to sign the SAB every night. If you need to send a note in with your child, please do not write it in their SAB as I usually don’t look at those until the end of the day.

Homework

• Students need to turn homework in on time. Through the first quarter homework will not be docked if it is turned in late, but second through fourth quarter late homework will affect the student’s grade. Please work with your child to have their homework in their backpack the night before so it is not forgotten.

• Please give me feedback on how homework is going at night. If the student is struggling or needs additional help let me know and I can assist that child at school. I do not want homework to become a battle at home or be a cause for late nights.

• There will never be homework over the weekend.
