Note: When it became apparent that precautions against the spread of COVID-19 had effectively moved these courses online, I chose to look for silver linings. Using Zoom for our class meetings, I discovered that I could create a "pre-class listening" playlist for my students that would occupy the ten minutes between the stream opening and the official beginning of class. I chose to provide examples of composers whose wind band and orchestral works were less likely to be found in my student's secondary experiences, whether through omission from lists like the Texas PML or evidence in their infrequent inclusion in overall performance.
Below are the works we explored during the Fall Semester of 2020 and Spring Semester of 2021, presented as they appeared in the course. This page is a place to meander and possibly discover a new work or composer, not a scholarly database.
