As an independent contractor making follow-up calls as a Registered Nurse, Cortex requires you to have professional liability insurance in place.
Policy Requirements: Occurrence, Self-Employed Professional Liability policy with limits of not less than $1 million per claim and $3 million per annual aggregate. This is to protect you and your family in the unlikely event that any claims that may arise while making follow-up calls to patients.
You are required to keep your policy current every year and provide your active policy to Cortex.
You may choose any professional liability insurance that meets the minimum requirements from any reasonable and legitimate insurance carrier in the U.S.
Cortex does have a recommended provider that is both quick and easy.

Part-Time, Occurrence, Self-Employed RN (different states have different costs) policies are close to $200 per year.
You can also select a date for the policy to start.
6. Click Proceed to Checkout to continue to purchase your policy
NSO usually has a fast turn-around time and you’ll have your Certificate of Insurance within 24-72 hours. The policy is what you’ll need to provide Cortex. You won’t need to purchase the policy until the Cortex Team has reached out to finish your onboarding.
There are options to select for additional insurance coverage - this is NOT necessary for your policy standards with Cortex, but if you want to get additional coverage, this is where you’d select it.
