The Spanish K-8 Program at Corpus Christi School provides an engaging, student-centered experience with the language and cultures from the Spanish-speaking world. The Spanish program focuses on:

Novice-Level Interpersonal Communication:

Learners interact and negotiate meaning in spoken, signed, or written conversations to share information, reactions, feelings, opinions in the language. They learn novice-level Spanish vocabulary and grammar to navigate real-life and real-time conversations that are relevant to the Spanish-speaking communities of the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond.

Cultural Comparisons

Learners use the language to investigate, explain, reflect on the relationship between the practices and perspectives of cultures from the Spanish-speaking world.

Learners practice interacting and collaborating with their classmates in the target language. They are prepared to engage with their own communities beyond the classroom.

Diversity and Inclusion

Learners engage respectfully with people, language, and cultures similar and different from their own. They learn the value of becoming global citizens who connect with others with dignity, compassion, and curiosity.

World Language Readiness Standards

The Spanish program stays current with the American Council for Teaching Foreign Languages' World-Readiness Standards and Proficiency Benchmarks.
