Diving into Kindergarten
About the Teacher
Nikole Harmon grew up in the Foothills, where she was an avid swimmer, runner and soccer player. She left this pastoral setting to attend Sonoma State University and studied abroad in Sweden during her Junior year. In 2009, she received her B.A. in Communications and a Minor in Women and Gender Studies, and later obtained her Master’s Degree in Culture and Spirituality from Holy Names University. It was during her time at HNU, that she discovered her desire to teach children to become passionate lifelong learners and to respect the natural world around them.
In 2013, she worked at St. Theresa as the 1st grade aide, and was the co-director of a summer camp in Tilden Park for three summers. While obtaining her Teacher’s Credential from CSU East Bay, she was a kindergarten teacher in OUSD for two years, and last year was a kindergarten teacher at a charter school in Oakland. During her free time she enjoys running, interpretive dancing, baking, reading biographies, and going to local events!
