Level 1 For All, put simply, is our massive multiyear initiative to make sure that every student in the Alisal Union School District has a teacher who is well-prepared and versed in the effective educational use of the G Suite Edu tools. Our plan is to do this by asking every certificated employee (teachers, principals, directors, and cabinet level) in the Alisal Union School District to attend a Google Level 1 Certification boot camp, and then attempt & pass the Google Certified Educator Level 1 exam.
Teachers came to Tech Council teachers' advisory group wishing that we could find a way to give all teachers minimum skills set to be 21st century teachers. As a district we have spent a lot of time and money acquiring devices, building up our infrastructure and bringing our Alisal Teachers high quality professional development.
Some teachers, however, are pulled in so many directions they have not been able to make time for all the new things that are coming at them and have had to prioritize. At the same time, those that see what is coming in the future (digital collaboration, student creation, computer-based testing, and ALL-digital textbooks) are embracing this future wave. T3 and Edtech took on the task of making sure our teachers have minimum edtech skill sets to facilitate teacher collaboration and moving our pedagogy and student achievement to the 21st century.
The best way we can think to do this in a verifiable way is to get every certificated person in the district, leadership included, to be Google for Education Level 1 certified. There’s no better preparation for taking the Google Certified Educator Level 1 exam than a two-day Bootcamp focused on using Google Apps for Education as a teacher.
Over the next 2 years Educational Technology (Ed Services) will be trying to get every certificated person in the district to be Level 1 Google Certified. We will be providing Level 1 exam Bootcamps to prepare everyone for this new expectation. New hires will be required to get this certification. We are budgeting to pay Per Diem to show that we are serious about this expectation and about supporting all through this process.
You can see the schedule and register for the Bootcamps on the registration page: here.
