An innovative farming game that emphasizes on eastern countryside life experiences. It breaks the boundary between the real world and the virtual game. It's not only a game but also a secret place that you can go in hiding and retreat from the stressful modern lifestyle. Sounds a little bit old? Wait until you see some key features that have been developed so far!
Let the game world synchronize with the real world! With the real-time weather system, everything you see through your window will also exist in the game! Rain, clouds, sunrise, sunset, temperature and even moisture will be the same! Wherever you go, the game world go with you and the weather changes with the current real-time weather!
The crop growing system is also highly related to the weather condition!
The Scientific Basis:
Photosynthesis is the basic theory for my self-developed crop growing system. Water, fertilizer and sunlight are not just simple additive relationship. They are parts of a chemical equation which plants rely on to grow. Water and fertilizer are reactants. Sunlight and temperature are conditions.
The mechanism and program underneath can be daunting. But don't worry. Just like people don't need to study biology to grow a plant, players can just simply enjoy the game without too much knowledge of photosynthesis. Besides, the aid bar can guide people through the process.
Let Nature Take Its Course:
Players have access to multiple farmlands to plant crops. Which type of crop to plant is your choice! But do notice, climate is an important factor that have a big affect on crop growing. So choose wisely based on your current location's weather!
Quality is Affected By Actions:
The game is designed to be simple to start but rather difficult to master. For example, there are four different types of radish, from high quality to very low quality. The results are affected by your daily actions. If you take good care of your crop every day, it will end up with higher quality. But don't worry, it's not hard to get some low quality fruits. Everyone can have fun planting crops without being too frustrated.
Imagine that you are in a little town where most people are familiar with each other. The shopkeeper of the local food store have a good friendship with you. You can always get a discount when you buy something from him.
The on-developing bargain system is here for you to make shopping more humanized. You can decide how much you want to pay, and the owner can say yes or no. Be aware not to ask for an unrealistic discount, or people may have a bad impression on you.
There are still much to develop but the key idea is to make the game less tedious and closer to real life. I believe those details will make my game so different than other games of the same genre.
Speaking of open world, most people will have an impression of a huge map, and freedom of doing anything or going anywhere. Well, what I'm trying to achieve is a totally new concept of open world, which can even apply to a small mobile game like mine. To me, the point of making a game open-world is to create immersion experience. We can realize it by taking care two aspects:
Open
Open means free choice and dynamic changes. Players can have their choice of doing something, like what I'm creating right now, the bargain system. It can also be the choice of planting crops or not planting at all. We need extra activities for users to do. But whether they want to do or not is totally up to them. Those activities should exist even rarely being used.
World
World means real world. To make the game world more immersive is by making it more like a real world. Sometimes, people are focusing too much on the surface like creating super real environment or making characters more like real people. I don't say such work is not important. It is important! Actually, my real-time weather system is going toward this direction of making environment more real. However, the most important thing is time! What makes our daily life experience so different is the sense of the passing of time. Everything will be different after a period of time. It's something you will not get if the game "wait" for you! In my game, the game is just like history. It will never wait for you. Some plots are not here for you to trigger. They will just happen like things in real world. Things happen! Be part of the game and part of the history is the experience that I will provide!
Currently I'm doing this project all by myself. The basic framework is completed, I'll publish a demo version to test the growing system and bargain system. If you are interested, welcome to join me! Please contact me through email!
