I am Ezgi Bilgin, a Ph.D. candidate in Human Development and Psychology at Cornell University, where I am advised by Professor Qi Wang and I am affiliated with the Culture and Cognition Lab. I hold a Master's degree in Cognitive Psychology from Koç University, Turkey, and a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Bilkent University, Turkey.
My research investigates how digital technologies and social media shape memory processes and its implications for the self. I examine how features such as selective exposure, misinformation, and social endorsement cues influence what people remember and forget in digitally mediated environments.
Through laboratory experiments and simulated social media platforms, I study cognitive mechanisms by which technology influences memory. My work addresses not only whether technology impacts memory, but also how it does so, for whom, and with what psychological and social consequences.
