We are a team of interdisciplinary researchers at Cornell University. We study how nonlinear dynamics and distributed control shape collective intelligence in natural and engineered systems, drawing on tools from control theory, nonlinear dynamical systems, network science, and machine learning. We pursue projects that cross disciplinary lines to study and design goal-oriented, adaptive, and self-organizing behaviors in systems ranging from animal groups and cell collectives to groups of robots and artificially intelligent agents.  With this work we build towards a future of autonomy in which intelligent systems interact seamlessly with one another and their environments, adapting and coordinating with the resilience, flexibility, and efficiency found in nature. The research team is led by Anastasia Bizyaeva, Assistant Professor in the Sibley School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Cornell.
