Where We Train

CYCC holds training sessions every Tuesday & Thursday evening (6.30pm to 8.30pm) at Awesome Walls Cork. A dedicated climbing facility, Awesome Walls Cork offers exciting climbing possibilities for all levels of ability.

Training

Our club hosts training nights on Tuesday and Thursday evenings (6:30-8:30). Our climbers can choose to sign up for the coaching sessions on those evenings or to just train following their own projects or goals. It is strongly encouraged that a parent does not belay their own child, as we find that this format yields better results for the climber. The club appreciates that this might not always work for everyone, so please come and speak with one of the coaches or a committee member and we can ensure everyone's situation is catered for!

The training sessions begin with a group warm-up, in which the climbers warm up, stretch and traverse sections of the climbing wall. The coaching groups then split up and do a variety of work such as conditioning, lead-climbing and bouldering. at 8:15 the entire group warms-down together.

Once a month, the club hosts a bouldering competition in which the climbers have a fun night of solving bouldering problems and socialising. Volunteer members judicate at the bouldering competitions.

The goal of our training is for our climbers to achieve their climbing goals, grow stronger and socialize.
