Summer of 2021: My 8-hour days consisted of preparing, weighing, counting, and portioning meal items and ingredients to be sent out to the 25+ surrounding area daycares and schools of which had contracts with Concordia. I also worked with Cass and Clay county Meals on Wheels and helped dish and prep 1000+ meals a day. I also learned how to make preparation spreadsheet printouts to ensure each of the contracted schools received adequate amounts of items according to anticipated daily counts. They also had kids with special diets that I made sure they got the right kind of foods. I utilized programs including Excel, CBord, and Canva.
Fall of 2020-Spring of 2022: I mostly helped in the kitchen dishing for Meals on Wheels in the morning. Occasionally I helped put allergens on menus and help make prep sheets.
For a month I collected donated nonperishable food around campus and brought it back to the food pantry on campus to be sorted for students to take. The goal of the food pantry is to provide food for people that financially need it or can't get to the grocery store frequently.
Growing up I helped with the community dinners in my home town Columbia Falls, MT. The work included making meals and serving them for people with a low income. The meals were the last 4 days of each month. Anybody could come and enjoy a meal but most of the people that came had a low income and needed a warm meal.
