Shamari’s life at school involves some of the most mixed emotions a high school student could experience, and yet her emotions make perfect sense.
The most common phrase a highschooler could ever say is “school sucks.” Which is one Shamari agrees with the most. As an IB student, there is no such thing as no work, from needing to study for her Figgy test to spending time not doing her IB Calculus IA, Shamari is constantly stressed out at school “for literally nothing”. Yet, when Shamari described her experience with her teachers she went on and on about how much she adores each one of them. “Mrs Gessen’s an angel.” She loves Lucy Goosie, Mr. Diaz, and Mrs. Krieger. She adores Mr. Figuera but would never call herself a Figgy Fan. However, she would absolutely buy the t-shirts if she knew how to get one. Shamari goes to Mr. Figuera’s tutoring every Wednesday, describing them as very educational. She has no favorite teacher, no discrimination, she adores every one single one of them equally.
Shamari gets no sleep on weekdays, and only catches up on sleep during weekends. Typically, she stays up very late doing homework and complains about not getting enough sleep the next morning. However, some days she finishes homework quickly, and decides to go on Youtube late at night. Big mistake on her part. She experiences revenge bedtime procrastination, where she decides to stay up late at night— or in her case practically the morning— in order to make up for her lack of free time. Other nights however, she just loses track of time and realizes it's already 5:30 am and it's time to get ready for school.
Shamari holds resentment towards the administration. One time, she had a pass to go do test corrections for another class, but got sent to the gym and was not allowed to leave. However, she absolutely adores Mrs. Jorva. Shamari is often late to school. She lives far away so the school doesn’t provide buses to her house. There used to be a bus stop but they got rid of it, which made her very suspicious of the system, especially because she knows people who still go on that bus. For this reason, she needs to take an Uber to school. Public bus is a big no no after having a bad experience. That being said, if she's late, Starbucks is a must. If she’s late, might as well get food. Luckily, Mrs. Jorva excuses her tardies, so she absolutely loves her.
Shamari has a life outside of school which can be summed up into one word: movies. She goes to the movie theater every weekend. Her latest watch at the movie theaters was Black Panther which she highly recommends, 10/10. This weekend she will be watching a new movie about slavery, so she’s not looking forward for it but is gonna go anyways. Shamari said even on weekdays she would spend every second, minute, hour, and day watching movies. She watches these shows and movies primarily on Netflix– sometimes Youtube or Hulu— and definitely not her totally secret service sites. She doesn’t own Disney plus becauseeeeeee she's broke.
To sum it all up, Shamari Morgan hates stress from school but loves the teachers and their classes as well; hates not getting sleep but will stay up late watching movies anyways; loves Figuera, but not a Figgy fan, but would get the shirt; and hates administration but loves Mrs. Jorva. Shamari Morgan’s reasoning above all else, makes perfect sense.
