IB students tend to study a LOT. Unless you're one of those lucky types with photographic memory, in which case, congratulations! However, if you're in the majority of students who spend those cold, lonely, devastating nights studying page after page of your textbooks to get that sweet A on your tests, then this is for you. A curated playlist on hits that will hopefully help keep you company on those long nights, and tips on how to make a playlist that helps you!
Playlist Making Tips
As someone who makes waaaaaaaaaay too many playlists, I've developed the perfect formula to making playlists that are guaranteed to help you study. Here are my tips:
When making a study playlists, try to keep the amount of words at the bare minimum. Too many words can cause you to focus more on the song than the content you're trying to memorize last minute. From my experience, it can make you break out into song in between pages explaining catalytic converters.
By the same token, songs with lyrics in a language you don't understand and could be trying to learn are actually really good to put on your playlist! If you're trying to learn Spanish, try to slip in some songs by Selena or Bad Bunny. Trust me, you'll learn the language way easier and you'll have found some cool tunes, too! A win-win.
If your songs have to have lyrics in them, try to keep the music upbeat. According to this study by the University of Arizona, upbeat music is the best for learning, while slower music is more for studying. Pick your poison and get to studying!
