So. You’ve finally gotten accepted to all your colleges, or at the very least, your dream college. Crazy, right? Time flies. What are the next steps you should take in order to secure your acceptance?
First and foremost, congratulations! I know it’s hard to get to this point, and your approximately fourteen years of study have led you to this point. It’s all for a reason and you deserve all the blessings coming your way!
Once you get your acceptance letter, your applicant portals should display a prompt, like a button or a link, to a prompt for accepting the school. Make sure you’re sure about this, and click that accept button. Keep in mind you’re going to have to decline all the other schools you’ve applied to—so if you applied to more than ten, good luck.
Next part is accepting any scholarships that you were granted if need be. Some schools have a separate application for scholarships, so make sure to accept them as soon as you accept your dream school.
THE DEADLINE FOR ACCEPTING ADMISSION IS GENERALLY MAY 1ST. CHECK WITH YOUR INDIVIDUAL SCHOOL FOR MORE SPECIFIC DEADLINES!
After accepting, there will be a bunch of stuff on your applicant portal like immunization reports, orientation sign ups, deposits, and more. What should you tackle first?
Well for one, deposits. Most schools make you pay a non-refundable deposit when admitted to secure your spot in the class, but some schools may waive this fee. Make sure to pay this first in order to register yourself as a student and in events like orientation.
Orientation should be up next, seeing as it’s your first introduction to school. Plus, it’ll be you pathway to learning more about the school you’re going to attend and how it works—which includes how to navigate the applicant portal completely.
Make sure to turn in all important documents like citizenship, housing applications, immunization reports, etc. Get it done and good luck in the fall!
