School is hard and exhausting. We all know this, and that is why when we get home, most of us decide to lay down on the couch and watch T.V. A nap is pretty much inevitable as well, as it helps us take our minds off of all the homework we have to do … that is until we wake up. When our eyes open, the weight of the world hits our shoulders as we finally realize the hours and hours of homework we still have to do. Well, I have a way to change this, but it's going to take a strong mind to pull it off.
You see, my mindset is that if I get all my homework done as soon as I get home (or preferably before that), then I can pretty much do whatever I want after, and I won’t have to worry about school anymore. You can also go to bed earlier and get that much needed rest so that you can wake up and be ready for school the next day. Another tip that I suggest doing is getting as much of your homework done in school when possible. I mean, you’re working in school anyway … right? Might as well use that time efficiently and be productive. Obviously, it’s not a good idea to do your homework while your teachers are actively teaching or while you’re working on an in-class assignment. However, if the teacher stops conducting their lesson early and they give you the rest of the class off, take advantage of that opportunity to do your homework.
You may be tempted to socialize with your friends or play on your phone, but resist the urge to do so. Getting your work done is a way better use of your time because if you get it done first, then you can hang out with your friends for as long as you want after you’re done and you won’t have to worry about missing any deadlines or turning something in on time. In my opinion, school is for work and home is for whatever you want. Do you really want to write a 5 grade essay in class, and then go home that same day and have to answer 50 math problems? Obviously not! You’re in school anyways, so you might as well get as much work done as possible so that way when you get home, you won’t have anything to worry about and you can relax.
Hopefully these tips were helpful, and if you put them to good use, your IB experience will be much more enjoyable!
