Disciplinary Literacy for CTE

Session by:  Jennifer Lynn, CCISD 3P Learning/ Continuous Improvement Consultant

Disciplinary Literacy is the "specifics of reading, writing, and communicating in a discipline. It focuses on the ways of thinking, the skills, and the tools that are used by experts in the disciplines" (Shanahan & Shanahan, 2012).  Participants will learn how to utilize disciplinary literacy strategies effectively in CTE-related courses with texts like technical manuals, blueprints, industry journals and industry texts.  The target audience for this session is CTE teaching staff but all secondary teachers are welcome.

Participant computers recommended, but not required.
