LeBron Raymone James Sr.
6 foot 9 and 250 lbs of nothing but pure greatness. I’m not glazing, the man’s pre-glazed and we all know it. But for all you Jordan fans still clinging on to his dusty GOAT title, here’s some stats.
LeBron’s longevity is a clear factor to cover first. While Jordan, having retired twice, played 15 seasons in the NBA, LeBron is currently starting his 22nd consecutive season. His ability to perform year after year in the same (if not better) condition is a significant factor putting him on top.
Another widely discussed topic is opponents. Jordan’s era was filled with some talented individuals, but Jordan didn’t come back 3-1 against the 73-win 2016 Warriors, did he? Realistically, Jordan never faced any team like that. Additionally, Jordan was walking around with a superteam composed of himself, Scottie Pippen, and Dennis Rodman.
LeBron was the youngest NBA player ever to reach 5,000, 10,000, 15,000, 20,000, 25,000, 30,000, 35,000 and 40,000 career points. On Feb. 7, 2023, Lebron became the NBA’s all-time highest scorer. He currently maintains this record with a total of 41,924 points.
When it gets down to the specifics of their individual accomplishments, LeBron and Jordan are fairly evenly matched. Remember the competition, though. Jordan was putting these numbers up against James and some washed old heads. LeBron’s 22-year career has allowed him to play many of the world’s most talented players while still putting up record numbers, time and time again.
Yet every Jordan fan will stick with the, “Lebron doesn’t have 6 rings”... anddddddd? I got some news for those people, Bill Russell has 11 rings, Sam Jones has 10, Snatch Sanders has 8, KC Jones has 8, John Havlicek has 8, Tom Heinsohn has 8, Frank Ramsey has 7, Jim Loscutoff has 7 and Robert Horry has 7.
In all honesty, I’ve never even heard some of these names before. That’s how relevant rings are to the GOAT status.
Seriously, who is Jim Loscutoff?
