Weekly Information
📚Reading: Kindergarten students are reading fiction books. We are practicing retelling the important parts of the story. Students should practice their letters, letter sounds, and sight words at home daily.
✏️Writing: Kindergarteners are working on labeling their writing. Students are working on listening for the beginning sounds of a word and adding it to their writing. Students will then begin stretching out words to hear and write even more sounds on their papers.
🔢Mathematics: Students will learn about the quarter and dime along with numbers 0-10 in math this month. Counting out loud to 100 is an awesome thing to practice together.
🔬Science: Students will explore magnets and how objects can move in science.
🌎Social Studies: We begin our geography unit in social studies in October. Students will explore maps, globes, landforms, weather, climate, and characteristics of places.
Upcoming Dates & Announcements
Please make sure that your child has a change of clothes in their backpack. We do not have extra clothes available in case of an accident or emergency.
Report Cards will be coming home in October! Your child is scored on a scale 0-4. A score of 3 is where students are expected to be at the END of kindergarten. Many skills that are required to be a 3 are developed over the year or not taught until later in the year. The following video will explain more about report cards in K.
