Conroe High School Dance Department

Students within the Conroe Dance Department will develop kinesthetic and locomotor movement skills as they explore and critically analyze diverse genres of the dance world and it's industry.

Conroe High School students who join the CHS Dance Department will have the opportunity to grow, express themselves, and learn through the art of dance. Our program encourages students to embrace new challenges while exploring a variety of dance genres, fostering both creativity and personal development.

Conroe Dance Department Dance Courses & Organizations

Dance 1 (9th Grade Campus/ Main Campus)

Audition Required: NO

Class Prerequisite Required: NO

Interested in joining dance? Dance 1 is the perfect place to start! Simply let your counselor know, and they’ll help you get enrolled. As part of the CHS Dance Department, you’ll also have the exciting opportunity to perform with your class in our annual Dance Department Show in the Spring.

Dance II, III & IV (Main Campus ONLY)

Audition Required: NO

Class Prerequisite Required: YES

After completing Dance 1, your counselor will have the ability to place you in the appropriate next level based on your previous high school dance credits. As you progress in to Dance II, III or IV, you'll have the opportunity to dive deeper into dance technique, choreography, and performance. Each year, students also perform with their class in our exciting Spring Dance Department Show.

CDD Dance Company (Main Campus ONLY)

Audition Required: YES

Class Prerequisite Required: YES

Dance Company is an upper-level course designed for experienced dancers who are ready to deepen their understanding of various dance genres and expand their performance opportunities. To be eligible to audition in May, students must have already earned their Dance 1 credit. Company members perform in the opening and finale routines of our Spring Dance Department Show, as well as in at least one additional dance style featured in the show. Seniors in Dance Company also have the special opportunity to choreograph and perform a solo or group piece in the show if they should choose to do so.

Conroe High School Goldies Junior Varisty Dance Team

Audition Required: YES

Class Prerequisite Required: NO

The Conroe High School Goldies are the proud Junior Varsity Dance Team of Conroe High School. Since their debut in 2022, the Goldies have quickly become a shining part of the Dance Department’s performance family. With energy, precision, and spirit, they perform for audiences in Conroe and beyond—while striving to excel not only as dancers, but also as students and community members.

Tryouts for the Goldies JV team are held each spring, typically in April. Keep an eye out for more details as the year progresses, and get ready to be part of this growing tradition.

Conroe High School Golden Girls Dance Team

Audition Required: YES

Class Prerequisite Required: NO

The Conroe High School Golden Girls have upheld a proud tradition of excellence since 1969. For over 55 years, they have dazzled audiences in Conroe and beyond with their precision, passion, and school spirit. More than just elite dancers, Golden Girls are dedicated students and active community members who embody the values of discipline, teamwork, and pride. As they kick off another exciting year representing Conroe High School and the Dance Department, they look forward to continuing their legacy of high kicks and high standards.

Tryouts for the Golden Girls are held each spring, typically in April. Stay tuned for more details as the year unfolds—you won’t want to miss your chance to join this legacy of excellence.

Additional Information about CDD

Student Expectations:

Students are expected to dress out in appropriate dance attire each day, unless otherwise instructed. Proper attire includes:

Black Shirt (NO Tank Tops, NO Crop Tops)
Black Bottoms (Lycra or Spandex Material)
Hair must be out of face
No Jewelry, Gum, Food, or Drinks
OPTIONAL: Jazz Shoes

Important Class Information:

All students are required to perform in the Spring Dance Department Show, which will count as a major performance grade.

DANCE CLASS FEE: There is a one-time $10 fee to join the dance class. This fee helps cover the cost of costume cleaning and purchases for the year.

All CDD dance classes can be taken for P.E., Fine Arts, or Elective credit, depending on your graduation requirements.
