The First Grade class began by having a Zoom discussion around wildfires. After watching a video about Baby Yoda visiting firefighters, students worked in small groups to write a Thank You letter to firefighters. They worked on their writing stamina and editing through zoom.
The first graders wanted to know how do wildfires affect us and the communities around us both physically and mentally? Why is it important to develop an emergency plan?
Students then researched emergency kits and attempted to assemble them at home.
The first graders are still wondering what future implications the smoke’s air quality have on their health and the environment.
