Dear Emerson Parents, Guardians, and Students!
It is with great pleasure that I welcome everyone to the 2020-2021 school year!
The school year begins on Thursday, August 20, 2020, with Distance Learning. In preparation for a thriving 20-21 school year, you should have received a schedule via Parent Square to pick up Laptops, textbooks, workbooks, and other school materials.
Instruction will take place via a virtual platform, we assure that you can expect daily live instruction from your child’s teacher. Attendance will be taken promptly at 8:00 a.m. each morning, and students will experience a complete day of learning. Students must participate daily, completely, and actively. We ask that parents and guardians support this by providing students with a quiet learning space at home. We will continue to strive to teach the whole child while delivering core content in critical areas, such as reading, writing, and math, as well as enrichment opportunities in coding and the arts.
If you have not already done so I encourage you all to download ParentSquare and register in order to receive key updates and information regarding our online learning. We will also be holding a Virtual Meet The Teacher via Zoom for parents and students on Monday, August 17th and August 18th according to the grade level (Please Check Parent Square for the Zoom Codes and Times). During the Virtual Meet The Teacher students will receive a Google Classroom invitation from his or her new teacher, as well as information about the daily schedule, including office hours. Note that all meetings with teachers must take place virtually, or via phone or electronic communication, for the time being.
Google Classroom Codes will be sent through Parent Square, or you can also access them on our district website www.compton.k12.ca.us. We believe that every student, despite any challenges, should have the same opportunities to succeed. Student learning continues to be our priority; working together, we will meet all students’ needs.
Please be on the lookout for more information from your teachers and through Parent Square. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we all navigate this new way of learning. We understand that everyone is making a transition that will take some time. Please keep in mind that we are all on this new learning journey together.
Please email me directly at lmoore@compton.k12.ca.us should you have any questions. Looking forward to seeing you back at school soon. Until then, stay safe and healthy!
