Dear Davis Middle School Community,

Welcome to School Year 2020-21! We are looking forward to another year together and our staff is committed to providing a quality education, rigorous, and exciting distance learning experience for all of our students even under different circumstances due to the current pandemic.

We understand that these are difficult times for all of us, but it’s temporary! We look forward to returning to our normal routines soon and we are confident that with your support, we will be able to reopen school successfully with the distance learning model. We must all commit to a working partnership to ensure our students continue their learning and not suffer an educational loss.

Our current district platform provides learning opportunities for your child that are located in our teachers' Google Classrooms. Very soon you will receive communication from your child’s teachers providing you with a code to join Google Classroom. The teachers will be asking you to join a Back to School Zoom session to provide general information regarding the student/parent expectations for distance learning, provide you with daily schedules, and resources that they will use in order to provide a rigorous program for our students. Please make sure you join this Zoom meeting session as it will not only informative but, you will be able to have many of your questions answered.

The students will have daily interaction with their teachers via Zoom sessions along with independent work that will need to be monitored by an adult to ensure optimal learning. Students will be receiving daily assignments geared to their grade level and assignments must be completed in the time assigned by the teacher. All of our students are expected to log in daily, participate in all aspects of the daily schedule to ensure they continue on a successful, rigorous educational path.

The most important thing now is that you arrange for and make sure that you are able to access internet/WiFi. Thank you for your patience as we all navigate this new way of learning. We understand that everyone is making a transition and trying to adapt to this current temporary way of life and it will take some time to adjust to. Please keep in mind that we are all on this new learning journey together. Please be flexible and patient!

I have no doubt that our amazing, dedicated teachers will reach out to all of you. They are dedicated to providing rigorous instruction and the support our students need to continue their learning at home. Students, do your best, don’t give up! Davis Generals will rise to the occasion and shine!

Practice all the precautions that our health experts have provided to us. Wear a mask/Wash your hands regularly/practice social distance/stay away from crowds!! If we all work together, we will be reunited soon!
