Dear Students and Families,
Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year at Compton High School, Home of the Tarbabes! We are excited to begin on Thursday, August 20, 2020. If you are new to the Tarbabe Family, welcome! Although it would be ideal to start this year altogether on campus, for everyone’s safety, we must start the 20-21 school year through Distance Learning. We will embark on a journey together that may have different obstacles than we’ve experienced before, but make no mistake, we are Moving Forward Together: Success Bound!
It is an honor and privilege to serve the students, staff, parents, and community of Compton High School. Collectively, we take great pride in providing our bright and talented youth with a quality education that will allow them to succeed and excel in high school, college, and in their chosen career. We strive to ensure that all Compton High School students have continuous access to a safe and conducive learning environment, whether it is an on-campus or virtual environment. As a staff, we consider our students future leaders, and therefore, we are committed to providing our students with rigorous instruction, reinforced with 21st century skills. We will work collaboratively with a shared vision that will focus on establishing a high standard for student academic achievement, even through the challenge of Distance Learning.
In order to ensure that our students are successful, we encourage parent/guardians to please do the following:
Ensure that your child logs into their live classes every day, on time, Monday - Friday.
Ensure that your child is connected to all 6 of their teachers’ Google Classrooms.
Find teachers’ and counselors’ Google Classroom Codes & email addresses at tinyurl.com/Compton20-21
Ensure that your child has a quiet work space to participate in their live classes and to study.
Join Parent Square at parentsquare.com/join_school/new to receive up-to-date messages from Compton HS and CUSD.
Email your child’s teachers and request an invitation to your child’s Google Classrooms (include your child’s name, ID, and period in your email).
Ensure that your child completes all required assignments.
To see your child’s 20-21 class schedule, sign up for Aeries at: tinyurl.com/AeriesParent
Complete the 2020-2021 Distance and Internet Access Survey at: tinyurl.com/ComptonWiFi
Meet (virtually) with your child's counselor and teachers each quarter.
To further support our students, the Compton Unified School District has established a Distance Learning Platform. On this new online platform, you will find learning opportunities for your child that are located in our teachers' Google Classrooms. These assignments will continue to be updated in the coming weeks. Please reach out to our teachers via e-mail for assistance and clarification of assignments and expectations.
We look forward to supporting all of our students and parents during the 20-21 school year. Please feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns at 310-898-6040. Thank you for your time and attention, and we wish you a wonderful 20-21 school year!
