Auditions for
A Divine Kerfuffle
A Divine Kerfuffle by H. Russ Brown
Directed by Dr. Carrie Winship
Performances February 29-March 3, 2024
Alvina Krause Theatre, 226 Center Street, Bloomsburg
About the Play: The year is 1895 and Sarah Bernhardt is the greatest actress to ever grace the Victorian stage–just ask her! The “Divine Sarah” fears, however, her once bright star may be fading with all the attention suddenly being lavished on a talented, younger rival. The stage is set for the ultimate showdown as the two dueling divas cross wits and blades in this farce.
AUDITIONS FOR A DIVINE KERFUFFLE
Auditions for A Divine Kerfuffle are open to all current BU Students
Initial auditions are on Monday, November 13 from 6:00pm to 9:00pm in the Theatre Lab (Arts & Admin 036)
Please sign up for an audition time using this link.
At the initial audition, you will submit an Audition Form with your contact information, relevant experience (if any/not required), as well as any conflicts you have with the rehearsal calendar. You can preview the Audition Form, which includes the Rehearsal and Performance Calendar, here. You are welcome to print and complete the form before you arrive to auditions or you can fill one out when you arrive.
Please prepare to perform a 60-to-90 second comedic monologue of your choice.
Please also prepare the following text in one of the listed accents:
Accent Paragraph: Please call Stella. Ask her to bring these things with her from the store: six spoons of fresh snow peas, five thick slabs of blue cheese, and maybe a snack for her brother Bob. We also need a small plastic snake and a big toy frog for the kids. She can scoop these things into three red bags, and we will go meet her Wednesday at the train station.
Accent Options: French, German, Italian, British (RP), Cockney, Irish or Scottish
Invited Callbacks (the callback list will be posted to this site and the Theatre Lab call board following initial auditions) will be on Wednesday, November 15 from 6:00pm to 9:30pm in the Theatre Lab (Arts & Admin 036)
Before the callbacks, callback scenes from the play will be distributed and actors will be assigned particular roles they will be reading as part of the callbacks. To prepare for callbacks, be sure to read the play and focus on the given circumstances of each scene (e.g., who the characters are, what their relationships are, what happened before the scene began, what each character wants from the other characters in the scene).
During callbacks, you may be asked to attempt a variety of accents when working with callback scenes.
Callbacks will also include physical exercises and ensemble building activities.
