All Columbus Academy iPads have Apple iCloud data backup configured for students who are signed into their devices with their CA Apple ID - primarily Middle and Upper School students, as well as 5th grade students in Lower School who have been assigned an iPad. This covers your photos, documents, as well as any apps that rely on iCloud sync, such as Notability.
We have encountered students reporting issues with their iCloud backup, and it occurs when their CA Apple ID login needs to be verified or confirmed after a system upgrade or data restoration from iCloud. This issue can be detected when error messages similar to these appear in the iPadOS Settings:
To ensure your iPad iCloud data backup is working properly, you should click on "Continue" or "Resume Data Sync" to let the iPad verify/confirm your Apple ID login, which is simply your Columbus Academy email address and password (it should redirect you to Google Workspace to log in):
Once you finish your Google Single-Sign-On step, you may get prompted for your iPad passcode to start the iCloud data backup & sync:
And that is all to it! It may take a bit of time for your iCloud data sync to catch up so please make sure your iPad is charged or plugged into a charger, and have a stable Internet connection for at least another 30 minutes or longer, depending on how much data transfer needs to be done for your iCloud backup sync to catch up.
