This course introduces students to some of the most highly sought professions within the field. Students will explore various careers within the medical field, participate in hands on learning of basic medical skills and procedures, understand medical support professions and other healthcare related professions. Areas of concentration include: Nursing; Allied Health Support; Physical Therapy; Physician, Forensic Medicine. Like all of our courses, medicine with Blueprint is fun and engaging. {Boston University} Academic Immersion: Introduction to Medicine
For rising juniors and seniors, Academic Immersion: Introduction to Medicine is an intensive three-week pre-medical program offered in partnership with the Department of Medical Sciences & Education at the Boston University School of Medicine and the Sargent College of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences at Boston University. AIM's pre-medicine track provides you with a broad introduction to the field of medicine, combining coursework in related sciences with experiential learning activities and explorations of the various career possibilities that exist within the field. In the mornings, you attend seminars led by Boston University instructors that focus on three core topics: Anatomy and Physiology, Infectious Diseases, and Contemporary Issues in Medicine. In the afternoons, you engage in hands-on learning activities that introduce you to what medical students experience in the early phase of their education.

{Brandeis University} Summer Residency in Women's Health
Diseases such as HPV, breast cancer, and Zika are global health concerns. Have you ever wondered why these diseases seem to impact women more often than men? How are they diagnosed and when? Vaccinations, screenings, and treatments exist for some of these diseases, but are they effective? How do they work and what are the ethical concerns?
In this one-week course, we will explore the molecular, genetic, medical, and clinical basis of several diseases impacting women’s health. We will conduct hands-on laboratories looking at viral structure and assembly, model clinical procedures for diagnosis, visit with experts in the field, and begin to develop an understanding of how governmental policy is designed surrounding these concerns.

{Leadership Initiative} Advanced Medical Neuroscience Summit
The Advanced Medical Neuroscience Summit is a first-of-its-kind program that allows motivated high school students to have an apprenticeship with world-renowned neuroscientist Dr. James Giordano. Dr. Giordano is the chief of Georgetown University's Neuroethics Studies Program, the Co-director of the O’Neill-Pellegrino Program in Brain Science and Global Health Law at the Georgetown University Medical Center, and Co-executive Director for the Center for Policy on Emerging Technology. In this accelerated apprenticeship, students will spend seven days participating in cutting-edge neuroscience experiments that explore the biological foundations of the brain, progressing from the cellular foundations of the neuron to an understanding of the sensory systems, and culminating with higher-order cognitive functions such as memory, emotion, and morality.

{Los Angeles Pediatric Society} Eve and Gene Black Summer Medical Career Program
The Los Angeles Pediatric Society established the Eve and Gene Black Summer Medical Career Program in 1969 and is proud to celebrate its 50th year in 2019. The purpose of the program is to encourage high school students to choose careers in the health professions. This program is best described as a medical mentor program. Under the supervision of a health care educator/medical facility coordinator, participants shadow various medical professionals (nurse, nutritionist, pharmacist, lab technician, physician and/or medical specialist etc.) who together provide a range of patient care services.
{Nationwide Children's Hospital} Athletic Training Workshop
Nationwide Children's Sports Medicine is hosting a workshop designed for high school students interested in emergency medicine, nursing, athletic training, physical therapy or other allied health and medical professions. No experience is necessary. The Certified Athletic Trainer is an allied health care professional that is certified by the Board of Certification (BOC). Athletic Trainers serve as a liaison to the athlete, coach, physician and other members of the healthcare team.
{Nationwide Children’s Hospital} Mechanisms of Human Health and Disease
Established in 2006, Mechanisms is a fast-paced, in-depth program designed to challenge the serious science student who is interested in medicine or medical research. Students in the Mechanisms program investigate cancer and other disease topics with lectures from research experts. At the final class, students present their research paper to family, teachers and researchers at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. This course is lecture and activity based, there is no lab component.
{Northeastern University} Innovations in Health Professions
Through this two-week long interactive experiential program, students will explore health professional careers and meet health professionals. In week one, students will participate in medical simulations, learn clinical skills, and participate in a health-hackathon! Students will also be CPR certified through the program.

The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine is offering a summer residential camp for current high school freshmen, sophomores and juniors. MD Camp, sponsored by the Area Health Education Center is an intensive, three-week summer day camp for 2018 providing participants an experience in the rigors of medical school. {Summer Springboard} Biology & Medicine Course
This biology and medicine summer program for teens begins with an overview of basic body systems, including structure and function of major organ systems, bone and muscle groups, and interactions between organ systems. In addition, we’ll look at how different organ systems communicate and interdepend on one another. Common medicines and their effects on the human body will be discussed using the Learn by Doing philosophy. Each class will have a Spotlight on Medicine, looking at various commonly used substances and medicines. There will also be an excursion to a local hospital to provide meaning and relevance to the course. Class activities include collaborative group projects, scientific method experiment, presentation skills development, film clips and readings.
{Summer Springboard} Emergency Medicine Course
Considering a career in medicine? Thinking about being a pre-med major in college? Do you love biology, are fascinated about the human body, or want a career helping people but aren’t sure where to start? These are big questions that can influence the next four to twelve years of your life. Spend the first week learning basic medical skills and getting training on how to handle situations when medical care is not immediately available. Simulations will allow you to learn and practice medical techniques including positioning and extraction, wound care, control of bleeding, stitches and sutures, usage of splints and slings, and other useful potentially life-saving skills. The second week focuses on being a detective doctor. In small groups, you will be required to research a simulated patient’s history and symptoms, create a diagnosis based on your findings, and develop a treatment plan. This simulation will teach you how to respond to a patient just like a medical professional, assessing information and applying your medical knowledge in high pressure environments.
{Summer Springboard} Global Health Course
During this global health program you will learn from professionals in the field about current approaches to promoting health, preventing disease, and helping communities in need around the world. Explore health issues locally and globally and think critically about how to solve them using community resources and technology. Work to solve global health challenges by turning everyday materials into life-saving innovative devices. Then, put your skills to the test in a disease outbreak simulation where you will work against the clock to discover the cause of a rapidly spreading epidemic and stop it in its tracks.

Think you want to be a doctor? This online summer intensive is designed and led by medical faculty and provides driven students the opportunity to work closely with medical students as they explore crucial facets of the medical school experience at one of the nation's leading medical schools - Tufts University School of Medicine. Through lectures and medical case studies coupled with a hands-on lab, students will begin to experience much of what it takes to study medical sciences. Question and answer sessions with admissions staff, physicians, other health professionals, and medical students will help participants get a feel for medical school and the career options they have in medicine and related health sciences.

{University of Massachusetts Amherst} Human Health and Movement (Kinesiology)
The Human Health and Movement (Kinesiology) program is a two-week hands-on program that explores exercise science, health and fitness. This activity-based curriculum will introduce the concepts that students in the field of Kinesiology will need to master to become certified physical therapists, occupational therapists, athletic trainers, and fitness professionals. Participants will have short lecture sessions to introduce testing techniques such as blood pressure, body composition and flexibility and will then practice their skills with their peers. Student will complete their own health profiles and will have a personal trainer assist in designing and implementing an individualized exercise program that will help them achieve their fitness goals. The format of the program is a few introductory lectures followed by several hands-on lab experiments that will provide student-centered team learning experiences. Some of the labs will include off-site locations were we can test different variables in the surrounding community. The nutrition component of this program includes identifying foods that fuel the body for effective training and a potential creative cooking competition.
