Columbus City Schools

Senior Capstone Project

The CCS Senior Capstone Project is designed to be a meaningful culminating experience that will demonstrate and prepare students for life after high school - in college, the military, the workforce and beyond. The project should answer the question, "What are my next steps in life and as a graduate of Columbus City Schools how will my aspirations have a positive impact on me, my family and/or my community?"

Throughout the Capstone experience, students will be expected to:

    • Be reflective,
    • Think critically,
    • Collaborate,
    • Practice 21st century skills, and
    • Make use of clear written and oral communication, public speaking, research, and media literacy skills.

Planning, pacing and organization will be essential for successful completion of the capstone project. To be eligible for graduation, students must earn the district's minimum credit requirements AND meet state assessment requirements. The Senior Capstone Project may be used to fulfill one of two of the additional options for the classes of 2019 and 2020. See page 2 of the Earning Your High School Diploma - Assessment Requirements for details.

Carefully read through all the materials on this site and work with the school counselor and principal to understand the expectations and successfully complete the project.

*These options do not apply to those students who are 5th year seniors or early graduates. Students must have entered 9th grade between July 1, 2014 and June 30, 2015 to be eligible.
