Elementary Special Education Teacher
The beautiful thing about learning is that no one can take it away from you.
Meet your teacher
Good Day! Guten Tag!
This is my second year teaching at the Columbus Elementary School and my 25th year teaching special education. I am excited to be the Resource Room teacher helping children with special needs succeed in the school setting. I am very familiar with the special education process and an advocate for our special education population's individualized education plans.
I am also a teacher for the Montana Digital Academy. I have been the lead teacher for German 2 for the past 6 years and also teach a section of German 1 and a Middle School Language Sampler German.
Let me tell you a little bit about myself. I grew up on a ranch in Northern Germany and came to Absarokee right out of high school to complete an internship at Immanuel Lutheran. After completing my special education degree in Germany, I immigrated to the US to live on the family's ranch my great uncle and dad had operated. My husband, Kevin, and I still operate the sheep ranch with the help of our children. I have two step sons who are married and have blessed us with five grandchildren, a daughter who is a senior at Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota, and a son who is a senior at CHS.
When I told my dad last year, I was contemplating applying for the special education position in Columbus, he responded with : "I think you should apply. I liked working for Pete Nicolaysen the butcher in Columbus back in the 50s. The people of Columbus are good people. I always liked Columbus."
I am happy to be a part of a wonderful team of professionals who are welcoming, collaborative, and have the best interest of our children at heart.
