The CHS Math team has been actively participating in four competitions including the Southwestern Illinois Math Conference, Illinois Council of Teachers of Mathematics, MaPP Challenge sponsored by SLU and Math Field Day sponsored by SIU Carbondale. The team is made up of students from Freshman to Seniors who like to challenge themselves with competition style Math problems. Normally, the team meets weekly in the Spring for practices once or twice a week. The practices are not mandatory, but students really enjoy the engagement and interactions with the problem types and other students that share similar interests. Students choose to compete only in the competitions that fit their schedule. Come check it if you are at all interested. Your scores are not revealed to other team members unless you want them to be, so don't feel intimidated or scared that you won't do well. Take the chance, you might really enjoy it.
