SOAR (Staff Offering Assistance and Remediation)/Problem Solving Team

PURPOSE:

To involve administrators, teachers, and support staff in a systematic problem-solving process that uses data-based decision making to promote the best academic and social-emotional-behavioral outcomes for all students. The SOAR team provides recommendations to the teachers in the areas of accommodations, interventions, and differentiated instruction strategies to implement within the general education classroom.

Possible reasons to refer:

• Academic
• Behavior
• Social/emotional

Referrals can be made by:

• Parent
• Teacher
• Staff Member
• Friend

Team will:

• Discuss data
• Hypothesize possible causes of problem
• Design an individual intervention plan
• Assign a case manager to implement and monitor the student’s plan and progress
