What do I do?

As a counselor at CHS, I will be working with students, staff, and families to identify the emotional and social needs, and will encourage positive behavior through social/emotional skills training. I help provide support to families and staff by providing consultation, instruction, and group counseling activities in the area of mental health. As a professional educator with a mental health perspective, I understand and respond to the challenges presented by today’s diverse student population and will provide proactive leadership to engage all stakeholders in the delivery of programs and services to support the students’ academic achievement, career preparation, personal and social development. The focus of my position will be to serve as a resource for students, school staff and parents/families by addressing the needs of students through individual and group counseling intervention using selected evidence-based programs to promote student personal-social, educational and career development.
