某天我的大兒子對我說：「媽，你畫的都是貓狗， 怎樣他們也不會是強大的英雄，都是柔弱的角色啊。」 他說得也不無道理。但他沒理解的，肉體的堅壯有時不及心靈的強大。

在泰國我遇見過細小的貓咪抵擋一堆野狗的嚇唬 ，那個場面對當時旁觀的我來說萬分震撼。要排除萬難，肉體堅壯當然更勝一籌， 但心靈強大卻是擊退敵方的原因。這幅畫，我把貓咪強大的心靈外化。看到貓咪，我就是想為他的百折不撓鼓掌！

One day my elder son said to me, “Mom, the paintings you draw are all cats and dogs. They will not be powerful heroes however nicely you portrait them. They are tiny and weak.” What my son said was not totally wrong. But what he has not understood yet was that sometimes body size does not determine how strong one is. The mind does.

Many years ago when I visited Thailand, I saw a tiny cat fending off a pack of wild dogs in the street. The scene was overwhelming. To overcome obstacles, having a strong body is certainly advantageous, but a strong mind is what defeats the enemy. In this painting, I externalized the powerful mind of the cat. I hope anyone who sees the painting will applaud him for his fearlessness and perseverance. ¡Well done little cat!

Un día mi hijo mayor me dijo: “Mamá, los cuadros que dibujas son todos perros y gatos. No serán héroes poderosos por muy bien que los retrates. Son pequeños y débiles”. Lo que dijo mi hijo no estuvo del todo mal. Pero lo que aún no ha entendido es que a veces el tamaño del cuerpo no determina la fuerza de uno. La mente lo hace.

Hace muchos años, cuando visité Tailandia, vi un gato diminuto defendiéndose de una jauría de perros salvajes en la calle. La escena era abrumadora. Para superar obstáculos, tener un cuerpo fuerte es ciertamente ventajoso, pero una mente fuerte es lo que vence a los enemigos. En este cuadro exterioricé la poderosa mente del gato. Espero que cualquiera que vea la pintura lo aplauda por su valentía y perseverancia. ¡Bravo gatito!
