我認識「四葉草」， 是因為多年前大學舍友麗儀在移民澳洲前送了我一條四葉草的項鍊。那條項鍊很精美， 叫我不得不去網上查看四葉草的來源。原來在世界大部分地方，我們只會找到三葉草。三葉草的三瓣葉，分別代表信、望、愛。如果你幸運找到四瓣葉，第四瓣就為你帶來運氣。「信、望、愛、運氣」 - 太完美的祝福了﹗

我住的地方，每逢春天四周都長滿三葉草。我把四葉草的典故告訴兩個兒子。自小他們若遇見三葉草，必馬上跳進草坪，興奮地尋找四葉草。當然至今還沒找到，但這已成為我們母子間多年的小秘密和習慣。

畫中四隻小貓緊緊的靠在一起，在迷茫的樹林中卻被四葉草保護著。這是生命中至高無上的祝福。他們不知道的，是原來他們自身，就是四葉草。

I know four-leaf clovers because many years ago my university roommate EE, gave me a four-leaf clover necklace before she migrated to Australia. That necklace was so exquisite that I could not help but go online to check the origin of four-leaf clovers. It turns out that in most parts of the world, only three-leaf clovers are found. The three leaves represent faith, hope and love respectively. If you are lucky enough to find one with four leaves, the fourth one brings you luck. "Faith, hope, love and luck"- what a perfect blessing!

In Springtime there are clovers growing all around in Santa Ponsa, Mallorca, the place where we live. I told my two sons about the allusion of the four-leaf clover. Since they were very young, whenever they encounter any clovers on the road, they would immediately jump into the lawn and look excitedly for the four-leaf ones. Until now we haven't found any, but it has become a little secret and habit between the mother and the sons for many years.

In the painting, the four kittens hold on tightly to each other, protected by countless four-leaf clovers in the midst of bewilderment in the wood. This is the greatest blessing in life. What they do not know however, is that they themselves are a four-leaf clover.

Conozco “los tréboles de cuatro hojas” porque hace muchos años, una compañera de la universidad, me regaló un collar de un trébol de cuatro hojas antes de emigrar a Australia. Ese collar era tan exquisito que no pude evitar conectarme a Internet para comprobar el origen del trébol de cuatro hojas. Resulta que en la mayor parte del mundo sólo se encuentran tréboles de tres hojas. Las tres hojas representan la fe, la esperanza y el amor respectivamente. Si tienes la suerte de encontrar uno de cuatro hojas, el cuarto te trae suerte. "Fe, esperanza, amor y suerte": ¡qué bendición tan perfecta!

En primavera, los tréboles crecen por todas partes en Santa Ponsa, Mallorca, el lugar donde vivimos. Les conté a mis dos hijos sobre la alusión al trébol de cuatro hojas. Desde que eran muy pequeños, cada vez que encontraban tréboles en el camino, inmediatamente saltaban al césped y buscaban con entusiasmo los de cuatro hojas. Hasta ahora no hemos encontrado ninguno, pero se ha convertido en un pequeño secreto y costumbre entre madre e hijos desde hace muchos años.

En el cuadro, los cuatro gatitos se abrazan fuertemente, protegidos por innumerables tréboles de cuatro hojas en medio del desconcierto en el bosque. Ésta es la mayor bendición de la vida. Lo que no saben, sin embargo, es que ellos mismos son un trébol de cuatro hojas.
