Example Student Project Videos: Recent AV/ADAS "Self-Driving Car" Challenge Video and Deep Archive
Research Focus: Current work with Cornell U. sensor data to apply machine learning methods to acoustic data (infra-sound + audible). Past work with the CSU Farm and ERP in S. Africa to detect, track, and monitor large animals in large spaces with sensor fusion (geophone, infrasound, imaging, vibration, and audible acoustic). General goals are to help keep people out of conflict with elephants and to prevent poaching. In north America, goals are to monitor free range cattle and interactions with wildlife (wild horses, elk, wolves, and pronghorn) and to prevent poaching.
Publications: Video, SPIE 2025: presentation & paper, SPIE 2024: presentation & paper, AIAA SciTech 2023 presentation & paper, SciTech 2022 - presentation & paper.
Research focus: Completed project, active 2016-2020, with goal to use sensor fusion for UAS/UAV operations in urban areas and in controlled airspace to improve situational awareness for safety and security. Drone Net research was completed by the ICARUS group.
