Fireside Chats
A discussion of methods for studying biological systems from a cellular scale to ecosystem scale. We hope to elucidate where perspectives on systems biology research converge and diverge by interviewing a diverse group of faculty from different backgrounds, fields, and career stages. We will also discuss career stage transitions and how the interviewee's perspectives have changed over time.

Lightning Talks
Flashy Figures
Have you recently created a scientific figure that captures a core part of your research project? Do you want to show others why your figure is so neat? Here is your chance to showcase your latest research. After lunch, we will host a round-robin series of "Flashy Figure Talks" (FFTs).
Before the symposium, please submit an 8.5"x11" color PDF that includes your flashy figure, name, email, a brief figure title, and 1-2 succinct bullet points summarizing the take-home message in the link below. An example template will be provided in the upload link below. If you are giving a Lightning Talk at the symposium, please ensure your FFT isn't redundant with your talk.
After lunch, we will have printed out a few copies of your flashy figure for you to pick up. We will shuffle into small groups for a series of short presentations (~5 minutes presenting your figure). People will take turns presenting and being part of the audience.
Dress Code: Casual
Lactation Room: A dedicated lactation space during the symposium is located at JSCBB Room D248. Please retrieve the key inside the BioFrontiers Admin Suite (JSCBB Room A171D; first floor).
