Project 14 - Community Park

Description: This project idea is supported with many nice detailed hand drawn images. The proposal emphasizes serenity and beauty. The mapped location is in northern Hillsboro. The idea could potentially be integrated into an existing public space or utilize new land acquisition.

Project 15 - Expand Amberglen Park

Description: Adding a trail connection between Amberglen Park and Meadow Park. Amberglen Park expansion. No demographic information of submitter included

Project 16 - Covered Outdoor Playgrounds

Description: Proposal to add additional covered play space to the Hillsboro Parks System to expand the time of year play areas are usable through protection from both rain as well as heat. Shade structures could integrate green roofs with native plants.

Project 17 - Update Playgrounds and Parks

Description: Update existing playgrounds and parks to be accessible, inclusive, and safe. Current conditions are outdated and unsafe. This addresses the diverse needs to the greater Hillsboro community. City of Hillsboro would be a likely partner agency.

Project 18 - New Multi-Use Park

Description: This proposal emphasizes the need for communities of Color to feel more comfortable utilizing public space in ways that align with their culture without the feeling that they are being regulated by white neighbors. The proposal specifically identifies feelings of being othered at Schiffler Memorial Park in Beaverton. The proposal identifies specific elements of basketball courts and bbq grills. If a new acquisition is not feasible then integrating these elements into existing parks could be an alternative pathway for this idea.

BEAVERTON WORKSHOP

Project 33 - Beaverton Transit Center Park 

Description: Proposal to turn the unused fields of the Beaverton Transit Center into play parks and open spaces that nearby community can use. This will fill a need for the BIPOC communities who live nearby to have access to green space, as well as benefiting the greater community due to it's proximity to transit.

Project 34 - Rock Creek Extension

Description: This project proposes to extend Rock Creek Trail through Orchard Park south to Baseline Road.

Project 35 - Reedville Majestic Park 

Description: Desire for nature trail, community garden, and soccer fields for community leagues of all ages in Reedville Majestic Park. This addresses the diverse community including Reedville Elementary School/ Title 1 that need nature space and healthy community outlet and safe spaces to enjoy the outdoors.

Project 36 - Park for a Desert

Description: There is a lack of park in the triangle between Canyon, Walker, and 217. Many diverse families live in the nearby apartment buildings have to drive or walk for a long time to go to a park. THPRD and City of Beaverton would be potential partners.

Project 37 - SW Lombard and Beaverton Transit Center

Description: The area near SW Lombard and BVTN Transit Center could benefit for a community park that is accessible and inclusive that includes basketball courts and dog parks. This area would serve all the apartment complexes and condo units nearby.

Project 38 - Adult Play Structures

Description: Enhanced recreational and play opportunities for adults in existing THPRD parks. This proposal addresses the community need for free, adult-sized entertainment beyond walking trails or sitting on benches.

Project 39 - Paula Jean Powerline Park 

Description: Rehabilitating Paula Jean Park for safety, accessibility, and play amenities such as paved path that connects to the bus line, green infrastructure and restoration in the unwelcoming area under power lines. This project would directly serve BIPOC community living beyond access to other park spaces.

CORNELIUS WORKSHOP

Project 47 - Keeping it Rustic

Description: Desire for green space along the river where you can fish, picnic by the water, and cook. Nothing to overly developed, more on the rustic side.

Project 48 - Story Walks

Description: Partner with local public libraries to install and provide Story Walks that would feature stories of nature and inclusivity, focused on multilingual books with diverse characters. City of Hillsboro is installing the first Story Walk in Shute Park.  This would center diverse voices, allowing diverse community members to see themselves in stories of inclusivity and acceptance.

Project 49 - East Council Creek Natural Area 

Description: Use the NIN grants to move forward with the East Council Creek Natural Area. This park will addresses the need for access to green space for the diverse Cornelius community.

Project 50 - Gathering and Celebration Park 

Description: This proposal centers the Atfalati people's local history through recognition, interpretive and practice. We can identify possible sites by looking at regional Oak and stream data. City of Hillsboro or THPRD could be partners.
