The Google AI Educator Series is a professional development pathway designed to equip educators with advanced generative AI competencies. The program architecture is structured into three phases to ensure a transition from foundational literacy to applied pedagogical mastery:
Asynchronous Coursework (~30 Hours): Completion of 30 badges covering both K-12 and Higher Education AI frameworks, ensuring educators understand the longitudinal "AI-Ready Graduate" pipeline.
Assessment (2.0 Hours): AI certification exam requiring rigorous preparation and applied practice.
Practical Reflection (15.0 Hours): A comprehensive summative requirement where learners describe their implementation of AI tools in a live instructional setting, engage in critical self-reflection on their teaching practice and personal/professional growth, and produce an action research case study.
Completion offers a scaffolded 3-credit bundle approach that moves beyond a single-credit model, allowing learners to earn credits progressively as they move from foundational exposure to hands-on application and, ultimately, refinement of their AI pedagogical practices:
200-Level (Developing): Focuses on exposure to content, corresponding to the current 1-credit program.
300-Level (Proficient): Incorporates an implementation and reflection module, adding a secondary reflection and practical application component in live instructional environments.
400-Level (Exemplary): Incorporates a module that centers on iterative improvements and refinement based on institutional and peer feedback received over extended classroom usage.
