An introduction to course tutor - Peter Stacey
I work as a free-lance musician, performing, composing, running workshops and teaching. At Coleg Sir Gar I teach a wide range of things including the study of music from around the world, how the music industry works, performance practice, and arranging skills.
As a composer I have written a number of large-scale pieces for orchestra – often featuring leading soloists from around the world. My compositions have been played at St. David’s Hall in Cardiff and the Royal Albert Hall in London. One of the most exciting things that I have been asked to do was to create a piece for orchestra and DJ, featuring Radio One’s Bobby Friction.
Here is an activity for you to try. I have called it ‘What’s in a Musical Arrangement?’ In this presentation you will be looking at the ingredients that make up a musical arrangement.
Submit your comparisons to peter.stacey@colegsirgar.ac.uk
