ELECTRICAL INSTALLATION

Rydym wrth ein bodd i gymryd y cyfle hwn i'ch croesawu i'n hadran ni. Bydd y dudalen hon yn cynnal gweithgareddau i chi eu cwblhau wrth baratoi ar gyfer eich astudiaethau gyda ni ym mis Medi.

Bydd y gweithgareddau isod yn gyfle gwych i chi gael blas ar y cwrs a rhai o’r meysydd y byddwch yn eu harchwilio.

Bydd hwn hefyd yn gyfle gwych i ni ddod i adnabod ein gilydd ac i chi ddechrau cwrdd â rhai o’r dysgwyr a fydd yn astudio gyda chi yn ein hadran.

We are excited to take this opportunity to welcome you to our department. This page will host activities for you to complete in preparation for your studies with us in September.

The activities below will be an excellent opportunity for you to get a flavour of the course and some of the areas that you will be exploring.

This will also be a good opportunity for us to get to know one another and for you to start to meet some of the learners who will be studying with you in our department.

Keeping in Touch!

You will be contacted by a tutor who will be working with you over the 4 weeks of the programme. Your tutor will contact you via the email address that you have provided to the college.

This will be where you can talk directly with your tutors and to ask any questions that you may have.

Staff will be able to guide you through the work below and give feedback as you go.

WYTHNOS 1 - Wythnos sy’n dechrau dydd Llun 22ain Mehefin

WEEK 1 - Week beginning Monday 22nd June

The Electrical team at Ammanford consists of a team of lecturers, assessors, instructors, technicians and training advisors. All play a vital role in providing a diverse and in depth learning experience during your time at the college.

The delivery team - John Williams, Mark Morgan, Steffan Jones, Mathew Samuel, John Featherstone, Malcolm Rich and Alun Jones. We would like to welcome you to this online learning area where you will get a taste for our trade and the career opportunities it can provide.

In this session you will learn how to -

Terminate a 13amp plug top
Identify the correct colours
Explain the correct procedure to complete the task
Recognise good and bad points
Be aware of Health and Safety considerations

WYTHNOS 2 - Wythnos sy’n dechrau dydd Llun 29ain Mehefin

WEEK 2 - Week beginning Monday 29th June

This weeks session is about “Ring and Radial circuits”.

These are the two different types of circuit we can install for domestic socket circuits. Both types can be installed depending on the preference of the customer and the nature of the equipment they will supply. Please read the presentation prior to attempting the learning activity.

WEEK 3 - Week beginning Monday 6th July

This weeks session is about “Showers and cooker circuits”.

These are the two different types of circuit we can install for domestic high powered circuits. Both types can be installed depending on the preference of the customer and the nature of the equipment they will supply. Please read the presentation prior to attempting the learning activity.

Aims of this lesson

Illustrate the different methods used for installing Cooker, and Electric Shower circuits.

Identify the different wiring methods used for different applications.

Understand the regulations and the reasons for using specific accessories.

Understand the need for using different size cables and Fuses.

WEEK 4 - Week beginning Monday 13th July

This weeks session is about “Electrical accessories and cables”.

There are many different types of accessory and cable we can install for domestic, commercial and industrial circuits. All types can be installed depending on the preference of the customer and the nature of the equipment they will supply. Please read the presentation prior to attempting the learning activity.

Aims of this lesson

Illustrate the different types of cable used for installing a range of different types of circuit.

Identify the different wiring methods used for different applications.

Understand the reasons for using specific accessories.

During this session we shall be looking at the installation methods used using different accessories.

Look at different types of fixing used in the electrical industry.
