Student perspective
Entering the Farel Academy for the Model United Nations (MUN) conference, I was immediately struck by the palpable energy in the air. Delegates from various corners of the globe filled the halls, brimming with enthusiasm and ideas. As the sessions commenced, the room reverberated with impassioned debates and discussions.
Assigned to the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), I eagerly immersed myself in conversations surrounding critical global issues such as Brain Drain in Less Economically developed countries & the development of sustainable infrastructure in LEDCs (less economically developed countries). Interacting with delegates from diverse backgrounds provided invaluable insights and perspectives, enriching my understanding of these complex topics. Moreover, I took pride in sharing insights about the country I represented Eritrea, and our ongoing efforts in economic and social development.
The highlight of the conference undoubtedly lay in the collaborative efforts within ECOSOC. Despite differing opinions, delegates demonstrated a remarkable ability to work together towards common goals, culminating in the drafting of resolutions aimed at addressing pressing global challenges.
As the conference drew to a close, there lingered a sense of both accomplishment and nostalgia. While the formal proceedings had ended, the connections forged and lessons learned during the conference would undoubtedly endure.
This experience served as a poignant reminder of the significance of international cooperation and dialogue in effecting positive change on a global scale.
Reflecting on my time at the MUN conference, I wholeheartedly recommend such experiences to anyone seeking to broaden their horizons, enhance their diplomatic skills, and contribute meaningfully to discussions on global issues.
Thank you for the opportunity in participating in this experience.
