Establish a Sit Spot: Find a comfortable place you can return to each day. Sit with a journal for just ten minutes a day. Watch for different things each day…. What sounds do you hear....? What interactions exist?... What colors can you see?... Are there any smells?
Take a hike! - Colchester has many trails to explore.
Trails behind the school: park in the CHS parking lot and explore miles of trails, including a lookout near the water tower that has the best sunsets!
Sunny Hollow, Airport Park and the Causeway, Rossetti Natural Area, The Village Trail (Bayside to Village), Colchester Pond
Looking to travel a bit further? We recommend Mount Philo, Snake Mountain, Camel’s Hump and Mt. Mansfield. Also, check out Burlington Wildways, The Green Mountain Club and VT State Parks for more hiking ideas!
Ride on the Bike Path - You don’t need a car to get to Burlington and enjoy its parks. Colchester is lucky to be connected to Burlington on The Greenway. More from Colchester Parks and Recreation and Burlington Parks and Recreation.
Get out on a boat in the lake - If you have access to a boat, a canoe, a kayak, or even a stand up paddle board, spend some time on the water (wear a life vest of course) and observe the lake. What do you notice below the surface? On the horizon? Look back at the land and enjoy your home state from a different perspective.
