Attention Skiers and Riders!
Our make-up trip to the mountain will be Thursday, 2/6.
We will depart right after school and ski from 3:30-7:30.
We will return to CHS at 9:00, and your ride should be there and ready to pick you up at that time.
Important voucher info:
It’s hard to believe it, but we’re gearing up for our final trip to the mountain this Thursday, February 6. This is the Session 1 make-up day. Since we had to cancel twice this season, and Bolton only gives us one make-up day, this means that students will have an additional 4 hour lift ticket loaded onto their card for them to use on their own. It can be used any day or evening this season outside of February 15-23 (which are restricted, as they are considered Peak Periods).
Furthermore, this year Bolton is giving all After School Program (ASP) participants an additional Family Day Voucher, which will be good for another 4-hour pass for the student and up to three family members. The students’ lift tickets will be loaded onto their passes this Thursday, and they will receive a paper voucher good for three additional 4-hour passes that can be shared with family. These will also be good for 30% off rentals for accompanying family members. The fine print of the Family Day Vouchers reads as follows:
ASP Family Day Voucher
Valid for 4X four hour tickets (1 for ASP participant & 3 for family) Not valid any Peak Periods: Jan 18-20, 2025 / Feb 15-23, 2025. Must be used at one time, bring voucher to redeem at ticket cube. ASP student & immediate family members must be present to redeem family tickets
30% off rentals valid on the date the tickets are used
No cash value
So, to sum up, after our last trip to the mountain this Thursday, students will have two additional 4-hr passes loaded onto their cards: one as a make up for one of our cancelled outings, and one as a bonus Family Day Voucher from the mountain. The Family Day Voucher is good for up to three additional 4-hour lift tickets for students’ family members.
Here are a few logistics for our upcoming trips to the mountain:
I will be in the back gym hallway from 7 a.m. until 7:40 a.m. on Thursday mornings so that people can lock their gear in the varsity soccer locker rooms. I do teach first mod, so I will need to lock up right at 7:40. At the end of the day, I will get back there as soon as possible so that students can grab their gear and head out to the bus, which will be parked outside the a la carte doors. The sooner we get out and get loaded, the sooner we can get out on the slopes. Please don't make us wait! Students should bring everything they need for the evening, as they will not be able to get back into the building when we return to the school.
In terms of gear, please remember that proper winter attire is required. It is not only a comfort issue, but a safety issue. January up on the mountain can be brutally cold. If you need help securing appropriate gear (warm, weather-proof snow attire, gloves, goggles, hats, helmets, etc.) please don't hesitate to reach out to me.
As far as dinner goes, students may bring a bag dinner or purchase their dinner at the base lodge cafeteria. (Be prepared, though... as with any ski area food, options tend to be on the pricier side. Hopefully, they will have a buffet option. This is generally the best deal going at $10 for chicken tenders, French fries, and mac and cheese. However, we'll have to see, as they do not always have it.)
Our plan is to be back to the school by 8:45. However, we will see how things go the first week, as we may be a little closer to 9:00. I will encourage students with cell phones to call their rides when we get off of the highway.
Speaking of rides, please know that we are NOT permitted to allow students who travel on the bus to leave the mountain with other students. They may leave the mountain with their parents/guardians if they check in with me first. Students wishing to leave the mountain with another student's parent/guardian needs to have a signed note to that effect on file with me AHEAD OF TIME.
As always, Ski and Board club promises to be a great opportunity to get out on the slopes and have fun with our friends. Please remember that we represent the Colchester High School community, and we want to be sure to bring our best selves to the mountain... being polite and respectful, following all school rules, watching out for each other, and pitching in a helping hand when needed (especially when it comes to leaving behind a clean space at the end of the night!).
All in all, this year is shaping up to be a great return to the slopes for the CHS Ski and Board community, and I can't wait to see you out there.
Think snow!
