Course Description:

This course provides students with a background in chemical concepts to gain an understanding of chemistry as a physical science, and the role chemistry plays in society and everyday situations. Course content places an emphasis on chemical structure, the language of chemistry, acids and bases, the periodic table, and local environmental issues. Students will explore the application of chemistry in our everyday lives and our environment through critical thinking, problem solving, and laboratory investigations. Students will work as teams to complete laboratory activities, evaluate data, and synthesize plausible inferences and applications.

Prerequisite: Successful completion of Introduction to Chemistry and Algebra I, or teacher recommendation.
