You can apply to many US universities directly but for most students planning on applying to universities in the USA, you will need to use the Common Application. Sign up here and make sure you link it to your Bridge-U account.
If you need help, speak to your form tutor or DP Coordinator.
Common App is a centralised system for applications that is used by more than 1000 colleges and universities in the USA.
With CommonApp, you can:
Find an institution: Search for colleges and universities, find out what they have to offer and the entry requirements for your desired course.
Plan for college: Find out more about the application process, understand fees and funding, and how to apply when you are ready.
Apply: Once you have completed all your research, use the application system to enter your details, collect the relevant documents and send your applications to the relevant institutions
"The SATs and the ACTs are the two different tests that students are required to take for admittance to a US university. All colleges require students to take either the SAT or the ACT and submit their scores to their prospective universities. There is no advantage of taking one test over another, so it is important to choose the test that is best for you, whether you are a domestic US student or an international student. Some students opt to take both tests, given that they cover slightly different things, but this is not always a viable option for people because of time and financial constraints. " - Times Higher Education
Many US higher education institutions are "test optional" but many still prefer you to complete one of these tests to boost your application, particularly if you are from a minority, underprivileged or smaller school. If you require the SAT or ACT, speak to the DP Coordinator, Head of Secondary or Principal about arranging these tests.
US tuition fees vary dramatically based on the institution and financial aid available. In the US, different fee structures are given to ‘in-state’ and ‘out-of-state’ applicants. If you are an international student, you will be considered ‘out-of-state’.
Financial Aid
Based on your circumstances and needs, as well as availability for international students, you may be eligible for financial aid from the universities you apply to.
Merit Scholarships
If excel in a particular area, some universities award scholarship for these achievements.
Sports/Athletic sponsorship
This is a different application route and will be dependent on your skills in a sport that the university prioritises.

Some US universities also offer college credit for IB courses and grades. You can check the individual institution's admission policy or search the IB recognition database.
