Coding with Culture

Fall 2022 Semester Classes

HBCU Cohort Format:

  • Culturally relevant and responsive pedagogy and content.

  • Classes are offered in virtual and in-person instructional formats. Please check the class description for the associated instructional format.

  • Small class sizes to provide differentiated instruction and meet our computer scientists where they are!

  • Project-based learning. Each cohort will create a digital artifact to share with family and friends

  • Classes meet live for an hour once a week for the 8 week semester.

  • Tuition for HBCU Cohorts: $145.00/semester

Class Information:

    • Virtual Class Days: Sundays

    • Virtual Class Times: 3:30-4:30 PM EST

    • Classes begin August 7, 2022

    • Classes meet with Coding with Culture Google Meet.

  • Practice crucial 21st century skills, while learning the basics of computer science. :

    • Critical Thinking

    • Communication

    • Collaboration

  • Coding with Culture is committed to providing Culturally Responsive & Sustainable curriculum and pedagogy.

  • Project activities include:

    • Introduction to HBCU culture & history

    • Block-Based coding project based learning units.

    • Introduction to Computational Thinking Skills.

    • Focus on problem-solving and perseverance.

    • Direct instruction in computer science and STEAM along with opportunities to creatively code!

    • Family HBCU Culture Connection Challenges!

    • Creative digital literacy projects using Google Suite!
