Meet Our Staff!

My name is Lori Robinson. I am one of the special educators for the 6th, 7th and 8th grades. This year I will be providing services in the area of humanities. I grew up in the NEK but after graduating college and traveling, I settled in Maine. I returned 5 years ago to teach at Burke. My husband and I have two daughters, Olivia and Abby. We live in Lyndon with our dog, Dolly and 2 cats. We love to spend time at our yurt in Newark. We also love to hike, ski, read and geocache.

Hello, my name is Morgan Moore. I am excited to start my fourth year teaching 7th & 8th Grade Humanities at Burke Town School! Additionally, I run the middle school Outdoor Club at BTS- I love being outside and believe that there is much to learn in an outdoor classroom. I am also especially passionate about helping students find what they love to read and how to improve their reading and writing craft. I hope to create high achievement and a love of learning through personalization and choice in my classroom. I believe that literature, community service, and many other school projects can be windows toward equity and empathy in our schools and world. I have a Masters in English Education from Plymouth State University and previously taught in Boston, MA. This year I am pursuing a Masters in Education Leadership through the Upper Valley Educators Institute’s Principal Intern Program. I hope to improve my teaching practice by better understanding schools and curriculum.

Hi! My name is Courtney Murray and this is my second year as part of the Burke Middle School team. I graduated from the University of Vermont, where I received a Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Studies. I am currently working towards my Masters in Education: Curriculum and Instruction, from Johnson State College. Outside of school I enjoy traveling, hiking, fishing, camping, and kayaking. During the summer my husband and I operate a food truck, which is really fun as well! I really enjoyed getting to know all the students and am looking forward to the upcoming year.

Hello, my name is Dale Guisinger. I am very excited to begin teaching middle school math at Burke Town School! I was previously a math teacher in Coventry, and attended Lyndon State College prior to that. I grew up in Charleston, VT and have spent most of my life living here in the Northeast Kingdom. When I'm not in school I enjoy spending time outdoors. You will likely find me hiking, swimming, skiing or snowboarding (depending on the season). I'm very passionate about mathematics and look forward to all of the learning we will do in the future.

My name is Amelia Wurzburg, and this is my second year teaching at BTS. I received a master’s degree in middle school education from the University of Vermont in 2017. Prior to that I spent several years working with middle schoolers as an Environmental Educator in the White Mountains of New Hampshire, as well as in the mountains and deserts of Wyoming and Utah. I love spending time outdoors- hiking, skiing, and mountain biking are some of my favorite pastimes. I also love being part of the BTS community, and can’t wait to get to know my new students!

Hi! My name is Jennifer McCormack and this is my third year teaching at BTS. I was once a student at BTS (long time ago) and feel fortunate that I am back as a teacher. I received my Master's Degree from UVM through the Vermont Mathematics Initiative and have recently been fortunate to work with the Vermont Science Initiative program.

We live in a beautiful area with amazing community support and so many outdoor opportunities right at our finger tips. It is exciting to bring more of those experiences to our students. I am looking forward to the 5th grade joining the middle school!

I live just three miles from BTS with my family, Ben and Luke. We like to go on long distance mountain bike rides, run, ride dirt bikes, and ocean fish in the summer.

My name is Amy Gertner and I recently moved to the Northeast Kingdom from the Coast of Maine with my fiancé and our animals. I coordinate blended learning, and science curriculum with the middle school team at Burke Town School.

I've been teaching for about ten years, in a variety of schools both public and private. I received my B.S. in Elem. Education from University of Maine at Farmington, then my Master's of Education in Integrating Curriculum and The Arts from Lesley University.

I believe in authentic, integrated and inquiry-based learning that aligns with passions of the teacher and student, benefiting the community and environment. I love being outside especially on the ocean, traveling, making art, taking pictures, baking for my family, and knitting the occasional hat.

My name is Heather Skrabely and I am excited to join the BTS team as the 6th, 7th and 8th grade science teacher and 6th grade homeroom.! Prior to moving to Vermont, I received my B.S. in Environmental Science from Westfield State University and attended the University of Massachusetts where I received a Master’s in Education. In my free time, I enjoy cooking, hiking, and spending time outdoors with my rescue dog, Bo. I look forward to being part of the Burke team and guiding students as they explore the world around them!
