Our fourth grade students continue to explore oceanic life with our in-house field trips. Today we captured some images of them exploring crustaceans. Here are some pictures from Ms. McInerney's class.
In honor of our American athletes who represented our country in the PyeongChang Winter Olympics, Mrs. Kunsch's students created these "Wheaties" boxes. Each student researched one of the Olympians and created a bio for them on the back of the box.
Happy 100th day of school to our hard working students and staff! We are so proud of what we have accomplished so far this year, and cannot wait to continue working hard for the rest of the year as well! A big time congratulations as well goes to our 5th graders on their 1,000th day of school!
Thank you Mrs. Hardwick for sharing your amazing story of your daughter Emma with our students today. Emma was one of many people who greatly benefited from blood donations. You too can become one of the courageous donors on March 1st (Please be aware that the date has changed from the district calendar). A blood drive will be held at Clayton Huey Elementary School from 1pm-7pm for adults age 16-75. Walk-ins are welcome, but feel free to fill out the form that went home so we can make arrangements for you. Thank you in advance to all of those who are able to donate.
A huge thank you goes out to Chef Robert Larkin, our guest chef for the day. Chef Larkin was cooking up some delicious waffles for our students covered with their choice of fruit and whipped cream. YUMMMM!!!
Here are a few pictures of our students on field trips to see theater performances and from our fifth grade trip to the roller skating rink for a STEM day. The children had a blast!
A huge shout out to all of the families that came out to participate in our Family Craft Night. We enjoyed fun activities and games, and we were all able to make some beautiful craft projects to give to our loved ones. Thank you to all of the teachers and staff who helped out setting up, and even came to participate in the activities!
As part of W.A.R.M. Week, one of our activities was "Little, Big Day". Students from grades 3-5 were paired up with students from grades K-2 to participate in reading activities. This took on a life of its own when some classes decided to even turn this reading activity into a STEAM activity where they recreated yoga poses with different materials. Other classes curled up with a partner and enjoyed a good book that they read to one another. What a great activity!
D.E.A.R Time!! Everyone Drop Everything And Read! Our wonderful students didn't want to put their books down as we spent time reading all together as a community of learners. Children from every class dropped whatever they were doing and picked up a book to read. Here are some pictures of them in action.
W.A.R.M (We Are Reading More) Week! Day 1 - "Cat in the Hat Day" - Look at all the silly and creative hats our students wore today in recognition of our W.A.R.M. Week Kickoff!
What an honor and a privilege it was for our students to have the opportunity to meet children's author Jerry Pallotta today! Mr. Pallotta was an amazing and inspirational presenter. He kept the students engaged and was able to get them excited about reading and writing. Thank you Mr. Pallotta for all that you gave to Clayton Huey today. Truly, a special moment.
