Course Description
Foundations of Math 1; Foundations of Math 1 offers a structured remediation solution based on the NCTM Curricular Focal Points and is designed to expedite student progress in acquiring 3rd- to 5th-grade skills. The course is appropriate for use as remediation for students in grades 6 to 12. When used in combination, Math Foundations I and Math Foundations II (covering grades 6 to 8) effectively remediate computational skills and conceptual understanding needed to undertake high school–level math courses with confidence.
Math 1; NC Math 1 provides students the opportunity to study concepts of algebra, geometry, functions, number and operations, statistics, and modeling throughout the course. These concepts include expressions in the real number system, creating and reasoning with equations and inequalities, interpreting and building simple functions, expressing geometric properties, and interpreting categorical and quantitative data.
Things to know:
Foundations of Math 1: this course has 2 grades each semester that are made up of a portfolio grade making up 4 unit assignments and 1 student reflection.
Math 1: this is an End of Course class that has 5 prepare grades, 3 rehearse grades, and 2 perform/assessment grades.
End of Course grade is 20% of the overall grade. This course will be taken in June 2024. OSTT tutoring is available for all Math 1 students after school. Transportation is provided afterschool in this program.
