Attendance and Make-Up/Late Work:
Work is expected to be turned in on time at the beginning of class. When absent , it is the students's responsibility to get the notes and homework he or she missed and to schedule a time to make up tests and quizzes.
Late Work Policy:
Formal assignments: Students will receive a 10-percent deduction until day 5 for assignments turned in late.
Informal assignments: Students will receive a 10-percent deduction until day 5 for assignments turned in late.
Retesting Policy: Students may retest skill-based formal assessments within 2 weeks of the assessment being returned. To be eligible for retesting, students must make a concerted effort on the first formal assessment, complete test corrections, and take the retest during the offered after school sessions. The retest will include different texts and questions, but will assess the same standards as the original assessment. Students have the opportunity to earn up to 100-percent on a retest.
All student and parent conferences will be scheduled through Student Services and all student support through teachers, Student Services/Administration. Virtual Conferences.
Grading Policy: Student performance will be assessed through quizzes, daily grades, papers, projects, and tests. This are group into two categories to determine grades and weighted on a points system as follows:
70% formal/summative assessments (assessments, major writing assignments, mini tests, projects)
30% informal/formative assessments (class work, homework, notebook checks, minor quizzes)
To all students and parents,
Per CMS, all online/virtual/remote instruction will begin on Monday, August 17, 2020. We will start with Unit 1 skills: diction, syntax, imagery, tone, and closely reading and analyzing texts. Each semester will end with Unit 3 in Canvas.
