Attendance and Make-Up/Late Work:
Work is expected to be turned in on time at the beginning of class. When absent , it is the students's responsibility to get the notes and homework he or she missed and to schedule a time to make up tests and quizzes before or after school.
Late Work Policy:
- Formal assignments: Students will receive a 10-percent deduction until day 10 for assignments turned in late. After day 10, the student will receive a score of 1 for the assignment.
- Informal assignments: Students will receive a 10-percent deduction until day 5 for assignments turned in late. After day 5, the student will receive a score of 1 for the assignment.
Retesting Policy: Students may retest skill-based formal assessments within 2 weeks of the assessment being returned. To be eligible for retesting, students must make a concerted effort on the first formal assessment, complete test corrections, and take the retest during the offered after school sessions. The retest will include different texts and questions, but will assess the same standards as the original assessment. Students have the opportunity to earn up to 100-percent on a retest.
All student and parent conferences will be scheduled through Student Services and all student support through teachers, Student Services/Administration.
Grading Policy: Student performance will be assessed through quizzes, daily grades, papers, projects, and tests. This are group into two categories to determine grades and weighted on a points system as follows:
- 70% formal/summative assessments (assessments, major writing assignments, mini tests, projects)
- 30% informal/formative assessments (class work, homework, notebook checks, minor quizzes)
